Nite N Day

Cleveland’s music scene has been on the rise for quite some time.  Countless notable artists have made a name for themselves in this city on the lake, as well as break out artists to be on the lookout for.  Nite ‘N’ Day is a group to watch.

Nite ‘N’ Day got their start in late 2009 when two best friends, Malcolm Tyrus (MT) & Charlie Williams decided to pursue their love of music.  Malcolm has always had an uncanny way with words, & Charlie is the smooth-talking crooner of the group.  Their styles complement each other, creating the perfect blend of intricate & awe-inspiring lyricism topped with smooth, harmonious melodies.  The latest edition to the group is Scott Depasquale (DJ Scotty Pistols), making the musical trifecta of Nite ‘N’ Day complete.

One might look at the name Nite ‘N’ Day, as explained by the group, & “just assume that the name comes from the fact that there’s one black guy & one white guy. However we want fans and critics alike to know that they have to look deeper & realize that it’s about more than just color. The name comes from us working at music all night & day, constantly perfecting our craft, sharpening our skills. Sleepless nights & days dedicated to coming up with new ideas & concepts, always outworking the next artist, & constantly striving to make the name Nite ‘N’ Day synonymous with music itself. Nite ‘N’ Day is bigger than just music, it’s about people going against the norm, defying all odds, & living out the life of their dreams. This is Nite ‘N’ Day.”

Nite ‘N’ Day has many influences.  For Charlie it is life experiences, love, success, Frank Ocean, Machine Gun Kelly, & Chris Brown.  MT also looks to life experiences, as well as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Pharell, Lupe Fiasco, J. Cole, DMX, & most hip-hop artists from the late ‘80s & early ‘90s.  Scotty Pistols states his influences are simple.  “Led Zeppelin, family, & cannabis… in that order.”  The group also recognizes the role the Cleveland music scene has played in their success.  “Cleveland inspires our music to some degree, the people of Cleveland are very real & down to earth, so growing up around that we couldn’t help but to incorporate that type of attitude into the music we make.  It also inspires us to make it out of Ohio & take our music all across the world to represent our hometown & its people.”

Final words of wisdom from Nite ‘N’ Day… “We don’t put our music in a box.  One genre of music can’t properly describe us.  We make music according to how we feel.  If we feel like partying, we make party songs.  If the mood is more somber & mellow, then we make deeper stuff.  We don’t really base our music on what is “hot” at the time… true artists just let the music come from their souls.”

Be on the lookout for a new EP from Nite ‘N’ Day, as well as their recently released EP, “Nothing Personal.”
